S.T.A.R Program Fund Raising for Hunter
Hunter was rescued through Ray of Hope, a coalition to make KCK a no kill city. He was an older dog, 8-10, but still active and very affectionate. He is such a well behaved boy that we put him in foster care to start him on a much needed weight gain program. Since in foster care, Hunter has had difficulty walking and other difficulty with motor skills. He's gained some weight and then lost it again. He was diagnosed with a spinal cord injury that nothing can be done for other than maintenance, which has not been real successful. Hunter continues to need veterinarian care while we try to make him comfortable. We know that he may not be with us for very long. He is great with other dogs.

Tabitha was trapped at The Pet Connection after 2 years of trying to catch her. She came daily for food and even got to the point that she would flirt with us from afar and sass us for her daily food. However, she just wouldn't let us get to close and wouldn't go in to that trap. When it got real cold this year, she got more desperate and we stopped feeding her for a few days so that the trap didn't seem like such a bad option. She is now in our isolation room and we need to get her ready for adoption. We are needing a sponsor of $85.00 to cover her veterinarian expenses.

S.T.A.R Program Fund Raising for Calvin
Calvin was badly abused by two of his homes according to the veterinarian and the families own admissions. They threw him against walls for bad behavior.... threw things at him, scruff shook him, flipped him over and held him down. They admitted that they were training him like they had seen Cesar Milan train dogs. I guess that minor detail that he is a cat was lost for poor Calvin. He came in reactive with people and hand shy. He has been hand fed and treated and loved for years at TPC and now he is ready to go to a household with no other cats and understanding owners. Rehabilitation animals require additional sponsors to help provide long term care while they are healed from their wounds.
