Spanx
Spanx is such a sweet, happy girl.
This sweet older pittie girl was left tied to a pole at a lake with another dog. She was so traumatized from what happened that all she did the first couple of days was tremble in the corner of her kennel. She wouldn't eat, drink, or lay on the comfy bed. Our hearts broke for this pretty girl. We gave her time to decompress and the amazing staff at Laurel Pet Resort started working their magic on her. They let her know she wasn't alone and that she was in a safe place. It took a few days, but eventually, her terrified growls turned into a slight tail wag, then the tail wag turned into her allowing some ear scratches and then it all came together one day. She knew she was with safe people and in a safe place. She now happily greets her fantastic caregivers at the front of her kennel, wagging her tail like crazy and serenading them with her house seal bark songs.
We would like to introduce Spanx! She's a well-fed lady between six and eight years old. She's quick to warm up to people but still can be overwhelmed in groups of people or new places such as a veterinary lobby. She likes other dogs, doesn't mind cats, and would do well with older children. Spanx would do best in a home (foster or adoptive) where she can continue to decompress and with people who will help her move past this trauma with love and patience.
Spanx loves, and we mean LOVES, car rides! She will try to get into any car she sees, even if the door is closed.
This amazing girl has shown she is willing to love and trust again and she deserves to find the most amazing home. She should spend the rest of her years being spoiled rotten, hanging out with people who love her to the moon and back.
If you'd like to meet Spanx, please call or text The Pet Connection at 913-671-7387. She's in the KC metro, but transport is available to the right home, because Spanx is more than happy to go on a car ride and we'd be delighted to drive her to her new home.
