Handsome Cricket is a gray and black tabby with a story that reminds us just how resilient—and loving—cats can be. About six years old, Cricket showed up skinny and hungry on someone’s porch, hoping for kindness. He found it, but when he didn’t gain weight despite eating well, his new friends grew concerned. Luckily, Cricket sought help from exactly the right people: their mom and dad, who happen to run The Pet Connection in Beloit, Kansas!

A veterinary exam revealed that Cricket has an autoimmune condition called stomatitis, which causes inflammation in his mouth and gums. Some of his teeth have already been pulled, and he may need more dental care in the future. Because his mouth can be sore, he’s sometimes a little picky about food—but he’s feeling so much better now that he’s getting the care he needs.

What stands out most about Cricket isn’t his condition—it’s his heart. He’s incredibly affectionate and loves everyone he meets. He’ll tuck his head into your neck for snuggles, melting completely into your arms. Cricket adores being with people, soaking up attention. He even enjoys the company of other animals.
